A Unit designates any one of the following in the Boy Scouts of America:
Each unit is sponsored by a chartered organization which is a religious, civic, fraternal, educational or other group that has applied for and received a charter to operate a Scouting unit. The unit is administered by a committee, which is appointed by the chartered organization. The unit committee, led by the committee chair person, oversees the unit program and activities and manages record keeping, finance, leadership recruitment and registration. The unit is led by a registered and trained leader:
These leaders, with one or more assistants, are appointed by the unit committee and must be approved by both the chartered organization and the local council.
