State of Ohio outline

Our home state of Ohio was named after the Seneca word ohi:yo', meaning "big creek." Ohio is called the "Buckeye State" for the abundance of Buckeye trees found throughout the state and, as such, Ohioans are known as "Buckeyes."Ohio's cyclical climate makes it the ideal place to experience nearly all types of camping throughout the year: Wet, dry, humid, windy, hot and cold weather - Ohio has it all.

Ohio's boundaries are defined on the east by the Pennsylvania line, on the south by the Ohio River, to the mouth of the Great Miami River, on the west by the line drawn due north from the mouth of the Great Miami aforesaid, and on the north by an east and west line drawn through the southerly extreme of Lake Michigan, running east after intersecting the due north line aforesaid, from the mouth of the Great Miami until it shall intersect Lake Erie or the territorial line, and thence with the same through Lake Erie to the Pennsylvania line aforesaid. (From the Enabling Act of 1802)

Ohio has many state and national parks open to Scouts along with 13 BSA run camps throughout the state. Chief Tarhe is fortunate to have a large number of these sites within its area. The map below shows the camps available in Ohio. As the camping resources are tracked down, more sites will be added to the map and each campsite will be listed below with links to more information. Lets keep the outing in Scouting!
